OUHS Diploma Program

General Information

Accreditation
The University of Oklahoma High School is accredited by the Commission on International and Transregional Accreditation (CITA) and the Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA-CASI).

The Oklahoma State Department of Education does not recognize NCA-CASI accreditation. Oklahoma State Department of Education policy does allow our courses to be used for high school credit when approved by local school boards. Because colleges in the United States recognize NCA-CASI accreditation, students who graduate from our high school may use their diploma as a credential for admission to colleges and universities around the country.

Department of Defense Policy Concerning Non-traditional High School Diplomas
The Department of Defense classifies diplomas from virtual or distance learning high schools as an alternative certificate. This classification may limit options for those enlisting in the armed forces.

Transfer Credits
OU High School accepts transfer credits from other state and regionally accredited high schools.

Portfolio Credits
Students who have completed five OU High School courses (2.5 Carnegie units) may earn elective credit by portfolio submission. There is an evaluation fee for each portfolio. Credit will be granted only for work completed during a student's high school years. No core course requirements can be met by portfolio credit. Contact the high school counselor or student advisor for further information about portfolio submission.

Student Counseling and Advisement
An OUHS advisor and a counselor are available to provide services to help you make good academic choices, plan a course of study, and keep on track with personal and educational goals. Additionally, all OUHS diploma students have an option to engage in life coaching with a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach. Life Coaching, counseling and advisement services are available during regular business hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday at 800-942-5702 (toll free), or 405-325-1921 (local), or by email at ouhigh@ou.edu.
